The sweeping east side is the city's largest in area and population and has grown to be our best shopping in town with many many choices. If you're always at the airport, a "close in" east side location may be for you. However, the east side is so large, you could easily be further from the airport on the east fringe than from the west side of town. In any case, under most driving conditions, one can get from anywhere in town to anywhere else in town within about 30 minutes. Here you will find the older, post WWII, neighborhoods of classy ranch style homes, gated neighborhoods offering our own version of Scotsdale style, and sprawling homes on the golf course. Don't miss our traditional "rich and famous" areas at Cumberland Circle, near Radford School and Loretto Acadamy. Then venture out just a block or two for utterly charming homes made of stone and stucco with shuttered windows and small sitting porches. Head out further for some equally chaming neighborhoods at lower prices. The east side has it all, and a place for every taste and budget. The newly built Texas Tech Medical School is located in a close in east side area near out Top 100 Hospital Thomason. This area is developing into a truly exciting medical complex to include a new children's hospital, and severl border health research groups. The Thomason area is also home to Jefferson High, which also has a school-within-a-school in that it houses Silva Magnet Health; now this is a jewel in our crown, with El Paso's top scoring students in state testing. Not more than a few minutes walk is Chico's Tacos, an El Paso landmark. I tried it and I don't quite see why, but it is an El Paso landmark. Maybe you need to grow up with it.
